How far can electric bikes go on a single charge?

The majority of electric bikes available today can travel 30 to 50 miles on a charge but some of the larger models can go 80 miles or even over 100 miles.

What is a Hub Drive motor for an electric bike?

A Hub Drive motor has the motor in the rear wheel of the bike and usually has pedal assist and a throttle. The two types of Hub Drive motors are direct drive and geared hub. Hub Drive motors are often part of a 48 volt system with a 500 watt motor. 

What is a Mid Drive motor for an electric bike?

The motor on a Mid Drive motor electric bike is in the middle of the bike and the motor turns the cranks. The gears of the bike are also the transmission for the motor. Mid Drive motors are often part of a 36 volt system with a 250 to 350 watt motor. 

What is the difference between a derailleur and an internally geared hub for the drivetrain?

The drivetrain for almost all geared bikes uses a cassette and derailleur to change gears as you ride. With all-terrain electric bikes, some manufacturers offer the option of an internally geared rear hub. This is a great option for all-terrain electric bikes, since they are usually ridden in more extreme off-road conditions. For the internally geared rear hub, the gears all sit inside an oil bath that’s sealed away from the elements. This makes a geared hub extremely resilient against mud, dirt, sand, snow, brush, etc. with no exposed derailleurs. Gears are shifted via a twist shifter. With an all-terrain electric bike the benefit of the low-maintenance geared hub is nice for your peace of mind. For maintenance, it will require an oil change every 3000 miles or so. For the hunters, it is a much quieter because the internal geared bike uses a carbon belt and the belt is very unlikely to ever drop off.
